New buildings
Building a new vessel is a complex, multi-stage process that requires precise logistics, strict quality control, and timely delivery of materials. Certified under ISO 9001:2015 by DNV for marine supplies, provisions, and equipment maintenance, Vietnam Ship Supply (VSS) understands the critical importance of supplying the right materials at the right stage, ensuring uninterrupted installation, preventing downtime, and helping shipowners avoid costly operational delays. To optimize efficiency and support shipyards, shipowners, and project management teams, VSS divides its supply process into 5 clearly defined stages aligned with the actual workflow of newbuilding projects.
Steel cutting
Shipyard activity
The newbuilding process begins once technical drawings are approved. Plasma cutting files are generated to cut steel plates with automated precision.
VSS supply scope
Steel plates, profiles, metal sheets, steel pipes & pipe fittings, marine valves, specialized electrical cables, marine paints & painting equipment, and essential fabrication consumables.
Our value
VSS ensures all materials meet class requirements (DNV, ABS, BV, NK) and are delivered strictly on schedule to support the shipyard's early production timeline.
Block construction
Shipyard activity
Cut plates are welded into structural blocks, surface-blasted, painted, and fitted with early piping, cable trays, and machinery foundations.
VSS supply scope
Auxiliary machinery items, marine pumps, electric motors, windlass & deck machinery, electrical cabinets, and outfitting components.
Our value
Phased deliveries ensure installers never have to wait while keeping high-value equipment protected from premature shipyard exposure.
Keel laying and hull assembly
Shipyard activity
Keel is laid and structural blocks are welded together in the dry dock to assemble the complete hull. Major heavy machinery (Main Engine, Generators, Shaft lines) is alignment-installed.
VSS supply scope
High-tensile ropes & hawsers, heavy rigging equipment, industrial cleaning materials & chemicals, and structural protective coatings.
Our value
Supporting outfitting and engineering teams with heavy-duty supplies to ensure accurate positioning, secure alignment, and protection of core machinery.
Launch and fitting-out
Shipyard activity
The completed hull is launched and berthed at the fitting-out quay. Interior accommodation is completed, systems are connected, and dock commissioning begins.
VSS supply scope
Pneumatic & electrical tools, hand tools, safety & PPE equipment, lavatory equipment, computers, printers, cabin textiles & linen products, and galley/tableware utensils.
Our value
Providing complete accommodation, safety, and outfitting stores as living and operational spaces are finalized for system testing.
Sea trials and delivery
Shipyard activity
Full operational testing at sea to verify speed, maneuvering, power output, and system compliance against contract specifications, alongside hands-on crew training.
VSS supply scope
Nautical equipment, official charts & publications, certified medical supplies, ship's office stationeries, provisions, and additional stores necessary for trials and maiden voyage.
Our value
Complete vessel readiness ensuring a successful sea trial and flawless handover to the shipowner.
New-building projects we have supplied
Our new-building work is a matter of public record. Below are a few examples, not an exhaustive list, all reported in the international maritime trade press and verifiable independently.
Vard Vung Tau
Part of the VARD group within Fincantieri. We supplied Monsoon Enabler, a commissioning service operation vessel delivered to Edda Wind of Norway in August 2025, and Ocean Infinity’s Armada 86 series, six 86-metre optionally crewed vessels, the final unit delivered in December 2025.
Ha Long Shipbuilding
We supplied the Windcat Elevation series of commissioning service operation vessels, built for Windcat and CMB.TECH of Belgium in cooperation with Damen Shipyards. The first of six was launched in October 2024 and Windcat Amsterdam was delivered in December 2025.
Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard
We supply new-building projects at Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard in Ninh Hoa, Vietnam’s largest shipbuilder by output. Our work there includes a series of eight tankers built for DSD Shipping of Norway, Det Stavangerske Dampskibsselskap, ordered as part of the owner’s fleet renewal. We supplied the new-building stores for the series, consolidated against the yard’s build schedule.
